Brandmeister Historical last heard data

Historical last heard data

The provider hosting the Last Heard back-end server is currently experiencing technical issues. This causes the historical traffic usually showing up after loading the page to not display. However once loaded, the page will pick up real-time traffic and display finished transmissions at the bottom of the page the way it used to.

Brandmeister, Reflectors, and DMR+

OK, so I get my MD-380 and a JumboSpot sitting on a PiZero. I connect to BM_United_States_3101 and I am rocking it! Then, a friend ask me if I can help him program his radio. The no-good-deed-goes-unpunished spiral starts when I say "Sure"!

Rather than giving me a list of talkgroups that he wanted to have programed in, he said he needed '4401, 4402, and 4403' along with a repeater. So I go snooping and realize that these are reflectors. I set up a TS2-TG9 channel, connect to REF4401 and pretty soon hear nothing. Well, it turns out that reflectors are not longer supported by the BM_United_States servers.

Who we are

We are NOT the support Brandmeister team, however maybe at some point the team may join this group.
We have heard it all,  this group is a user discussion group, we discuss subjects about BrandMeister.

Many Reports as follows ::
I am getting VERY frustrated. I registered for an account almost (time ago) and have never received an activation email
Consider asking for a refund ?   (Silly humour)
Maybe consider what can we do to make this better ???

BrandMeister DMR reflectors support ending by end of 2020

BrandMeister DMR reflectors support ending by end of 2020

The reflectors feature was implemented in the early years of BrandMeister to provide a compatibility with other DMR networks including this functionality and allow reflectors-based hotspots to connect to BrandMeister.

With more and more countries appearing on DMR, the restrictive numbering format of the reflectors (4XXX) is causing talkgroups numbering conflicts for a growing number of countries which MCC code starts with 4.

Our statistics are also showing that less and less operators are using reflectors on BrandMeister DMR, and the demand for new reflectors is practically nonexistent.

For all the above reasons, the reflectors functionality will be retired no later than December 30th, 2020. After this date, Talkgroup 4000 will continue to provide the same auto-static disconnect function and Talkgroup 9 Timeslot 2 will behave just like any other one-digit talkgroup.

If you are using a dv4mini hotspot in reflector mode, please refer to this post to use MMDVM support.

Brandmeister New Philippines Master Server 5151

2020-01-25
New Philippines Master Server 5151

The BM team is delighted to announce a new Master Server 5151 deployed in the Philippines, hosted on the island in the Eastern Telecoms datacenter. With the server physically located in the country, hams from the Philippines and nearby regions can enjoy lower latency, fewer hops, and thus better performance during QSOs.
The server address is at BM5151.hamradio.com.ph; Fixed IP address at 120.89.61.77. It should already be present in the BM Masters list for all hotspots that auto-update their master server list.

Update (11:24 UTC): All services report up and running.
The cause of the outage was a problem while migrating one of the 4 lastheard storage servers to there new datastore. The machine is recovered and back in to service.
Update (10:12 UTC): The broken machine is back online and the LH is recovering.

Currently we are experiencing some issues with the storage backends of the lastheard this means that history searches don’t work and also graphs using data from the history will have some issues.
We are working on a solution bare with us - 2019-01-14

Brandmeister Hotspot Configure a personalized security password for your hotspots !

Configure a personalized security password for your hotspots !

What are hotspot passwords ?
As you may know, hotspots connecting to a BrandMeister master server using homebrew or MMDVM protocol require a password to connect. Currently most of you use the “master server password” which is typically published on the corresponding country’s BrandMeister wiki page. Some software packages include those default passwords, relieving the users from needing to research and input this password.
It is also possible, and now strongly recommended for each user to setup their own personalized password from within the BrandMeister Selfcare.

Why setting up a personalized hotspot password for your own callsign ?

If you did not setup a personalized password for your hotspot, anyone can configure their hotspot with your personal DMR ID and connect with the master’s publicly documented default password, and start using the hotspot with your callsign !
Unfortunately this is happening more and more, thus our recommendation for everyone to setup a personalized password. By creating your own password, you ensure that you are the only one able to use your DMR ID to setup a hotspot.
Also setting up your own password will prevent your hotspot connection to stop working when the password is changed on the master you are connecting to.

How to proceed ?

Brandmeister DMR talkgroup activity aggregator

Brandmeister DMR talkgroup activity aggregator

I recently got into DMR by getting myself an MD-380 and a hotspot (ZUMSpot) to get access to the Brandmeister network. I would often watch Brandmeister's last heard page or hoseline app to figure out which talkgroups were in use, but found that I wasn't able to easily see which talkgroups were most active. I figured that was a problem I could solve.
